My therapeutic outlook

I believe that everyone deserves empathetic help and support. One of my specialities is in working with clients who are experiencing addiction or are in recovery, as well as loved ones of this population. I also have experience working with clients affected by anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and eating disorders. No matter what you are coming to therapy for, I strive to build a collaborative relationship with my clients, and to help you to cultivate the changes you seek for your life and overall well-being.

I integrate different modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I believe in treating the whole person, and utilize mindfulness techniques, breathing exercises, and meditation. I have a strength’s based mindset, focusing on the resilience each client has.

Every client has the capacity to reach and maintain their personal recovery. I strive to be a supportive guide as you do the day-to-day work of cultivating the change you want to see in yourself. I employ empathy, unconditional positive regard, and humor in building relationships with my clients.

My Background

Ziggy the failed therapy dog

I am a proud alum of Loyola University Chicago (Go 'Blers!). I received my Master's in Social Work degree from Loyola, and my Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology from North Park University. I have experience working in a methadone clinic, counseling individuals who had an addiction to heroin or other opiates. I have also worked at an intensive outpatient level with individuals and groups who had varying co-occurring mental health and addiction concerns. I have been happily in private practice for the past few years, working with individual adults experiencing a variety of concerns.

When I'm not at work, I can be found watching Grey's Anatomy, at the yoga studio, or walking around Target. I live in Park Ridge with my husband and my 80lb dog, Ziggy, who failed his therapy dog training.
